Toyota and Lexus moved from 4D and G-chip keys to H-chip and then to the 8A-BA smart system, which locks out generic programmers and needs either a licensed all-keys-lost routine or an immobiliser box read. Nissan and Infiniti use BCM-based programming with a 20-digit PIN, and Hyundai/Kia require a PIN derived from the VIN before any key is added.
